Position OverviewThe Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and energetic individual to serve as Day Care Licensing Representative. Under supervision, the position conducts licensing studies and re‑licensing reviews of day care centers and homes to determine eligibility for licensing or re‑licensing. The role includes on‑site inspections, initiating re‑licensing activities, and ongoing monitoring of assigned facilities.
Job Responsibilities- Serve as Day Care Licensing Representative.
- Initiate re‑licensing activity (request inspections, provide reapplication forms, etc.) prior to license expiration.
- Provide ongoing monitoring of assigned day care centers and homes, visiting each at least once per year and making additional visits as needed.
- Investigate alleged violations of the Illinois Child Care Act and Department standards and regulations.
- Coordinate services with other agencies concerning inspection, licensing, funding, and monitoring of facilities.
- Obtain fire and health clearances from relevant inspectors.
- Maintain client records in accordance with federal and state statutes and Department standards.
- Provide input into unit meetings.
- Perform other duties as required within the scope of the above duties.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in early childhood education or child development.
- Minimum of 18 hours of coursework in child development or early childhood education.
- Two years of professional experience in early childhood, day care center, kindergarten, or a day care licensing program.
- Completion of a background check and self‑disclosure of criminal history.
- Ability to travel in the performance of duties.
- Appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- All conditions are incorporated with any of the job duties listed in the description.
This position is a union position; provisions of the relevant collective bargaining agreement/labor contract apply to the filling of this position.
This title is within the Upward Mobility Program (UMP). Employees applying internally must upload a copy of the UMP grade notice to their application documents prior to submission.
