About

The Role

In this role, the Assistant Manager
- Breast Imaging (Mammo) will be responsible for the management and implementation of all inpatient or outpatient clinical services within the Department of Radiology. Operates in a technical capacity for one or more imaging modalities. Ensures competency of departmental services and technical staff, facilitates imaging service schedules, and evaluates and maintains appropriate staffing levels. Oversees the training of staff and student technologists.

Responsible for daily operations, staffing, and workflow.

Responsibilities
  • Support manager in performance management, scheduling, daily operations, hiring, performance feedback, annual competency evaluations, and other managerial functions.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of departmental objectives and goals, designed to foster an atmosphere of teamwork and commitment to patient care and staff development/retention.
  • Oversee employee schedules, time records/requests, and ensure compliance with both hospital and departmental practices and protocols on a consistent basis.
  • Enhance employee engagement and success within the Medical Imaging Department.
  • Understand and contribute to all budgetary goals within the hospital and radiology department; evaluate staffing levels and modify, when appropriate, all reporting areas on a daily basis.
  • Perform procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines to provide the physicians with the highest quality of diagnostic information.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent training acquired via work experience.
  • 3–5 years of previous job‑related experience.
  • May require on-call, weekend, holiday, and emergency coverage as department needs warrant.
  • Specific Degree(s):
    Radiologic Technology – Mammo.
  • Expected to function as a "working manager".
  • Ability to distinguish between types of medical procedures and diagnoses.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, prioritization, and decision‑making skills.
  • Assist in training student technologist rotating through the department.
  • Requires travelling to offsite locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of management or lead experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • UKG scheduling or equivalent.
Licensure & Certifications
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program.
  • ARRT (M) licensure.
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) from American Heart Association only.
  • Illinois Emergency Management Agency Certification (IEMA).
  • EPIC, PAC experience or equivalent.
  • Excel Proficient (intermediate). Testing for proficiency may be required.
