Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular & Transplant Registry
Join Loyola Medicine as a Registered Nurse on the Cardiovascular & Transplant Registry unit (Cardiac Surgery & Step-Down Unit). This 32‑bed inpatient unit specializes in post‑op cardiovascular surgery, thoracic and lung transplants, heart transplants, and advanced heart failure (LVAD). A 6‑bed transitional unit also serves high‑acuity patients.
Position OverviewThe role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients on the unit, including cardiac telemetry, medication drips, chest tube management, pacing, and anesthesia support.
Responsibilities- Deliver direct patient care in a high‑acuity cardiovascular and transplant environment.
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond to changes in patient status.
- Administer IV drips, inject cardiac drugs, and manage chest tubes.
- Apply external pacing and other cardiology interventions as directed.
- Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Document patient care accurately and promptly.
- Participate in unit education, simulation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Diploma from an accredited nursing program – BSN or ADN required.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required prior to hire.
- Illinois Board of Nursing license required prior to hire.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a cardiac or transplant setting (new grads welcome).
Type: Part‑time
Shift: 12‑hour night shift, rotating schedule.
Compensation: BSN pay range $34.76‑$57.06/hr; ADN pay range $32.31‑$50.71/hr salary may vary with experience, education, and licensure.
