Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your position is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by CNAs/GNAs and other nursing personnel, monitor performance, provide education and counseling, perform disciplinary actions as necessary, and complete performance evaluations. Supervision must comply with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor to ensure the highest quality of care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Functions
- Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing personnel in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Review and recommend revisions to policies and manuals.
- Provide discipline and evaluations of staff.
- Issue disciplinary warnings for violations.
- Plan shift services and activities with staff.
- Ensure manuals and procedures are current and followed.
- Report on shift activities.
- Coordinate nursing services with other resident services.
- Ensure staff adhere to job descriptions.
- Participate in quality assurance and inspections.
- Review and update resident discharge plans.
- Assist in planning nursing services for discharge plans.
- Interpret policies to staff, residents, visitors, and agencies.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as needed.
- Complete incident reports.
- Provide billing information as needed.
- Perform administrative duties such as documentation and reports.
Specific Requirements
- Current, active RN license in this state.
- Proficiency in English.
- Knowledge to care for residents' age-related needs.
- Teamwork and leadership skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of nursing practices, laws, and regulations.
- Leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Performance evaluation skills.
- Ability to plan and organize care programs.
