Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your position is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by CNAs/GNAs and other nursing personnel, monitor performance, provide education, counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations. Supervision must comply with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as directives from the Director of Nursing or Nurse Supervisor to ensure high-quality care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Functions
- Direct the daily functions of nursing staff in accordance with regulations.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Review and recommend revisions to policies and manuals.
- Provide discipline and evaluations for nursing staff.
- Issue disciplinary warnings as necessary.
- Plan shifts with nursing personnel and support staff.
- Keep the Nursing Service Procedures Manual current and ensure staff adherence.
- Report on shift activities and coordinate with other resident services.
- Ensure staff compliance with job descriptions and participate in quality assurance programs.
- Assist with resident discharge plans and participate in surveys or inspections.
- Interpret policies to staff, residents, visitors, and agencies.
- Manage resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Complete incident reports and provide billing information.
- Perform administrative duties like charting and reporting.
Specific Requirements
- Current, active RN license in NJ.
- Proficiency in English.
- Knowledge of age-related care needs.
- Supportive team player with leadership skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of nursing practices, laws, and regulations.
- Leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Ability to evaluate performance and handle disciplinary actions.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to relate information about residents' conditions.
- Must not pose a health or safety threat and possess basic computer skills.
