Overview
Child and Youth Services Assistant Director responsible for overseeing a CYS program and ensuring compliance with DoD, Army, and local regulations.
Responsibilities- Assist the program supervisor in operations of the assigned CYS program.
- Provide program oversight and accountability for staff performance, safety, and wellbeing of children and youth per DoD and Army standards.
- Maintain DoD/Army certification and ensure the program achieves and retains national accreditation.
- Recognize staff or administer disciplinary action as appropriate; conduct written observations and evaluate performance.
- Collaborate with other CYS managers to ensure continuity of quality services.
- Serve as a member of the CYS Program Plan Team, developing strategies for program improvement.
- Direct deposit and valid Social Security Card required.
- Meet all qualification, eligibility, and background requirements.
- One‑year probationary period may apply.
- Complete E‑Verify check and all pre‑employment checks per AR 215‑3, including a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
- Maintain a clean record under the Crime Control Act.
- Demonstrate satisfactory performance, training completion, and on‑the‑job competency.
- Travel to on‑ and off‑post locations required.
- Maintain current health assessment: good mental and physical health, no communicable disease, and immunizations per current Army and DoD policy (including annual influenza vaccination).
Resume requirements: Resumes must be two pages or fewer and clearly document relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities.
- Successful completion of a 4‑year college or university degree with a major related to child or youth development, education, or related behavioral science.
- Background education for specific facilities (Child Development, Youth, School Age) as outlined in the job announcement.
- Minimum of 3 months of directly related work experience teaching children or comparable role.
- Experience selecting, training, and supervising childcare providers or other caregivers.
- Experience developing and implementing child development programs (family day‑care, part‑day preschool, before/after school).
- Strong oral, written, and presentation skills and ability to analyze problems and propose solutions.
- Other relevant experience and training that demonstrates competency for the duties.
Proof of education required. Education must be directly related to the position; general education courses do not count toward the credit total. All diplomas must specify major. Transcripts must be in English, legible, and indicate school and applicant name.
