About the Role

The RN Night shift Emergency Department role is critical in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients during overnight hours in a fast-paced emergency setting. The primary objective is to assess, monitor, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergent medical conditions, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout their stay. This position requires the ability to make quick, informed decisions while collaborating closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.

The nurse will also play a vital role in patient education, documentation, and maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. Ultimately, this role ensures that the emergency department operates efficiently and effectively during night shifts, contributing to positive patient outcomes and overall departmental success.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or equivalent from an accredited nursing program.
  • 1- 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred in an emergency department or acute care setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts and adapt to a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or equivalent specialty certification.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Epic or Cerner.
  • Additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
  • Demonstrated experience in triage and rapid patient assessment.
  • Strong background in patient education and family communication within emergency care contexts.
Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough patient assessments upon arrival and continuously monitor vital signs and symptoms throughout the night shift.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, providing life-saving interventions and stabilizing patients as necessary.
  • Document all patient interactions, treatments, and observations accurately and timely in electronic health records.
  • Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to promote understanding and compliance.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is functional and supplies are stocked.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
