Responsibilities
- Perform rigging work necessary to move, load, unload and install heavy items.
- Utilize a variety of cables, slings, ropes, and chains according to established policies.
- Calculate load capacities to determine optimal rigging configurations.
- Repair production machinery utilizing a variety of standardized methods.
- Operate semi‑trucks to transport heavy equipment for facility installation projects.
- Background investigation required; appointment subject to a suitability or fitness determination.
- Compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug‑Free Workplace Programs; pre‑employment screening and random testing.
- Pre‑employment Physical Examination required; ongoing annual examinations.
- Class A Commercial Driver's License required upon appointment.
- Ability to perform the work of a Rigger (Production Machinery Repairer) with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in rigging, equipment repair, and equipment operation.
- Ability to select and install appropriate rigging gear, perform minor equipment repairs, and operate machinery.
Performs arduous work, frequent lifting or carrying moderately heavy objects, continual reaches, bends, stoops, pushes and pulls, uses entire body weight to handle suspended loads, stands and walks for prolonged periods, climbs platforms, works in cramped and awkward positions, requires good coordination and balance around machinery.
Working ConditionsWork performed indoors and outdoors in all weather, may involve noise, dirt, grease, vibrations, poor ventilation, illumination and unpleasant odors. Hazards include moving machinery, swinging loads, breaking slings, falling objects, cuts, bruises, scrapes, fractures, and explosive hazards while working on ammunition production equipment during explosive operations.
