Position Summary
The Compliance Specialist supports the company’s global import/export operations and regulatory compliance programs. This role ensures adherence to U.S. and international trade laws, corporate policies, and customer/regulatory requirements. Working cross‑functionally with Legal, Logistics, Operations, and external partners, the specialist helps mitigate compliance risk and strengthens organizational controls.
Key Responsibilities Legal And Regulatory Compliance- Support implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of compliance programs
- Conduct legal and regulatory research
- Assist with internal audits, investigations, and corrective actions
- Draft, update, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training materials
- Support HTS classification, Country of Origin (COO) determinations, and valuation
- Ensure compliance with CBP, EAR, ITAR, and CTPAT Certification Standards
- Coordinate with customs brokers, logistics providers, and internal stakeholders
- Maintain required statutory import/export documentation and records
- Identify compliance risks, gaps, and process weaknesses
- Track and support remediation actions
- Prepare compliance metrics, dashboards, and reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business, or related field
- 5+ years in compliance, legal, trade, or related field
- 5+ years experience in U.S. Customs clearance, HTS classification, and COO identification
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Intermediate Excel and reporting capability
- Cross‑border compliance experience
- Business‑level fluency in Spanish and English (read, write, speak)
- Preferred: Automotive or manufacturing industry experience
- Paralegal certification, law degree, or law firm background
- Familiarity with USMCA and IATF 16949 standards
