Trauma Surgery PA | Night Shifts | McAllen, TX

We are seeking full-time Physician Assistant to join the Trauma Team at South Texas Health System (STHS) McAllen. • Location:
  
  McAllen, Texas (Rio Grande Valley)
• Practice Setting:
  Level I Trauma Center within South Texas Health System (STHS)
• Support / Care Team:
  Multidisciplinary trauma surgery team with APPs and surgeons
• EMR / Technology:
  Cerner electronic medical record system

• Manage pre-operative and post-operative trauma patients in coordination with trauma surgeons
• Perform tertiary evaluations of trauma admissions and provide episodic or problem-oriented care under physician direction
• Assist with trauma quality performance improvement initiatives
• Conduct complex patient care procedures usually performed by trauma surgeons but delegated to PAs
• Assess patient complaints and deliver appropriate treatments
• Perform minor surgical procedures as delegated by supervising physician
• Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate and communicate complex patient issues
• Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests in collaboration with trauma surgeons
• Monitor treatment plans and update trauma surgeons with critical information
• Respond promptly to emergency trauma alerts
• Perform additional duties as assigned

• Certified Physician Assistant with appropriate trauma experience preferred
• Active or eligible Texas medical license or certification
• Trauma care experience highly desirable
