Position: NURSE EDUCATOR - GENERAL
The primary role of the Educators is to support the learning needs of staff and patients by providing opportunities for the acquisition of new knowledge, skills, and behaviors in view of advancing technologies, changing healthcare delivery systems, expanding staff roles, evidence-based practice, and research. These opportunities include, but are not limited to, orientation, continuing education, formal and informal in-services, coaching, and consulting.
Furthermore, the education department believes that South Texas Health System employees’ continuing education is a major asset in employee recruitment and retention.
Job Requirements:Qualifications:Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training, and immediate reporting of suspected compliance issues to the Compliance Officer.Education / Licensure:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.Must be enrolled in a BSN program and obtain the degree within 12 months of hire, or have a Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred).Must have and maintain current BLS certification and Instructor Trainer Certification, according to unit-specific needs. If not already certified, must obtain within one year of employment. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.ACLS certification is preferred.Skills and
Certifications:- RN
- Training experience and education
- BLS, ACLS certifications
Ideal Candidate:
Experience as an Educator at an acute care hospital with general education experience.
