Description

The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M University is seeking applications for a full-time, academic professional track (non-tenure) position at the rank of Lecturer. This is a 9-month, full time position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026 for the  academic year with a possibility of renewal beyond that period.

Teaching responsibilities will include instruction at the undergraduate level in general chemistry and organic chemistry, including lecture and laboratory instruction. Faculty are responsible for teaching and overseeing their own instructional labs, with laboratory technicians providing support for setup and materials procurement. The selected candidate, while assigned wholly to the McAllen campus, will collaborate with faculty within the Department of Chemistry and the College of Arts and Sciences at both the McAllen and College Station campuses, engaging in cross-campus efforts that support curricular alignment, instructional continuity, and student success.

In addition to their teaching, the successful applicants will have a strong commitment to undergraduate chemistry education and student success. All appointees are expected to be committed to teaching of the highest quality. The successful applicant will be based at the Texas A&M University Higher Education Center (HECM) At McAllen, in south Texas.

This position plays a key role in supporting the continued growth of the Public Health and Biomedical Sciences programs at the HECM and in providing both general chemistry and sophomore-level organic chemistry coursework to students completing their full four-year degree in McAllen.

Qualifications

This position requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field. We seek candidates with demonstrated interest in teaching and student mentorship who will thrive in a teaching-focused, student-centered environment
