Job Description PRIMARY
PURPOSE:The K-5 Academic Interventionist will support student achievement by providing targeted Tier II and Tier III academic interventions in small group settings to at‑risk and economically disadvantaged students in Kinder through Fifth Grade. Working with data from diagnostic assessments, state assessments, district benchmarks, and any other campus assessment, the Interventionist will identify students’ areas of need and monitor progress, adjusting interventions as needed.
The Interventionist will also collaborate with teachers and campus instructional leaders to assess the effectiveness of Tier II and Tier III interventions.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:- Bachelor’s Degree, required
- Bilingual or ESL Certification, required
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate, required
- Core Subjects EC‑6 or Reading Certification EC‑6, required
Special Knowledge/
Skills:Communicate effectively (verbal and written); utilize effective interpersonal skills; demonstrate knowledge of assigned subjects; exhibit general knowledge of curriculum and instruction; basic computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Applications; deep knowledge of reading, writing, and literacy development (K‑5); knowledge of second‑language acquisition and supported English‑content instruction; ability to fluently speak, read, and write English and Spanish.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Consult frequently with classroom teachers and analyze student performance data to determine specific areas of need. Create intervention groups and schedules based on data analysis.Develop customized intervention plans based on individual student needs. Adjust the plan as needed based on ongoing assessment data.Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to align interventions with classroom instruction.Communicate regularly student progress to the students themselves, to other teachers as appropriate, to the principal and/or instructional leaders, and to parents.Establish and implement a scientifically research‑based instructional support program to ensure students make optimal gains in specific areas of need. Utilize evidence‑based instructional strategies to address identified learning gaps.Cooperate with other staff members in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives and methods to address the needs of special populations (e.g., at‑risk, economically disadvantaged, emergent bilingual students).Plan, prepare and execute lessons, instructional strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students.Document student progress and prepare reports on a regular basis as required by the funding source.Collaborate and work effectively with administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to monitor student progress.Monitor and assess student achievement through informal and formal testing procedures. Regularly assess and monitor the progress of students receiving interventions.Maintain equipment and curriculum inventories.Assist students in analyzing and understanding the learning process so that they may become life‑long learners.Attend all meetings and in‑service as directed and keep abreast of developments in curriculum/instruction as leadership is provided.Seek continuous professional development growth that relates to the assigned program and meets district requirements.
