Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure):
Lecturer Open Rank – McAllen Campus Nursing
Texas A&M University College of Nursing invites applications for a full‑time, academic professional track (non‑tenure) faculty position at our McAllen, Texas campus. The successful candidate will have experience in academic nursing education.
The 9‑month appointment begins in August 2026 and offers the possibility of a summer contract. Applicants will be considered for the titles of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Principal Lecturer. Rank and salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities- Teach in the nationally ranked BSN program, preparing and revising course materials and assessments that foster student learning; selecting and managing high‑quality clinical and simulation experiences; providing competent clinical supervision.
- Evaluate student performance, provide academic advising and mentoring, maintain posted office hours, and collaborate and mentor faculty colleagues.
- Develop new courses consistent with curricular and accreditation standards and support ongoing academic program accreditation efforts.
- Participate in college or university committees, accreditation or self‑study initiatives, advise student organizations, and engage in clinical practice where appropriate.
- Collaborate within the college community and contribute to initiatives that promote the College’s mission and excellence in nursing education.

Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and currently enrolled in a master’s degree in nursing program with at least 50% of coursework completed; or a BSN and a master’s degree in another field with appropriate graduate‑level nursing coursework (e.g., advanced nursing practice, nursing education, nursing research, or clinical specialty courses). - Required Registrations, Certifications and Licenses: Candidate must be eligible for a Texas RN and/or APRN license depending upon credentials.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience providing clinical instruction at the baccalaureate level or higher; two or more years of recent nursing practice experience. - Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Master of Science in Nursing; use of simulation in nursing education; experience in one or more of the following areas:
Community Health, Medical Surgical, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Mental Health; professional certification in nursing specialty area; certification in simulation.
