General Statement of Job
The Medication Administration for Nurse Aide Instructor delivers high-quality instructional training to prepare students for safe and effective medication administration in healthcare settings. This role focuses on teaching state-approved Medication Aide curriculum, ensuring learners understand proper procedures, legal responsibilities, and patient safety standards.
Essential Functions- Instruct students the essential functions expected of an individual enrolled in a Medication Administration for Nurse Aide's Training Program. These functions reflect the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to successfully complete training and prepare for state licensure.
- Prepares students to pass the State of Texas Medication Administration for Nurse Aide License
- Implement educational curriculum to ensure student success
- Motivates students to attend class, learn, and be successful
- Demonstrate proper medication administration techniques, including dosage calculation, documentation, and error prevention.
- Maintains students and class records
- Tracks student attendance
- Assess students' academic performance
- Completes and submits course documentation when due
- Inform Coordinators of students not meeting attendance and academic goals and/or not complying with behavior expectations
- Inform Coordinators of support services for students
- Maintains a positive, productive classroom and handles behavior problems effectively
- Communicate with students, staff and peers in a professional, respectful, and constructive manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree Required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience in any healthcare setting required
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and compete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation
- Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and the mission of South Texas College
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to apply practical understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Licensed Registered Nurse (R.N.) required
- Security Sensitive position;

- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects
- Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling
- Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. Occurs to a considerable degree ad requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles
- Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes
- Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely
- Standing particularly for sustained periods of time

- Cloe visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
