Overview
The School Of Mathematical And Statistical Sciences (SMSS) at the University Of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for three tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning Fall 2026 on the Brownsville campus. One position in Mathematics and two positions in Statistics.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a productive, independent research program with potential for external funding.
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Contribute to the growth and development of academic programs, including the Ph.D. program in Mathematics and Statistics with Interdisciplinary Applications.
- Engage in mentorship, collaboration, and service aligned with UTRGV’s mission.
- Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution (earned by the start date of appointment).
- Demonstrated potential for independent research and scholarly productivity in Mathematics or Statistics.
- Demonstrated potential for effective teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Postdoctoral research experience demonstrating continued scholarly development.
