Cobb Fendley is seeking a Utility Coordination Graduate Engineer in our Georgia office.
RequirementsEducation, Registration, Certification – The successful candidate’s qualifications include the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or a related engineering discipline, required.
- Registration and designation as an Engineer in Training (EIT), required.
Novice – Basic understanding and minimal practical experience; requires guidance and supervision. No experience is required, internship experience and EIT preferred.
- Knowledge of standard engineering and scientific techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks.
- Skills – Use of industry‑standard computer software for the position (e.g., CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, Micro Station, GIS, hydrologic/hydraulic models).
- Ability to use spreadsheets, word processing, and standard office software.
- Design + Analysis
- Complete simple design and analysis using determined software and criteria, under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
- Exercise limited judgment on details of work, including preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Compliance + Quality
- Utilize company resources to begin understanding QA/QC processes and procedures.
- Communication + Collaboration
- Work with supervisor, project manager, mentors, and various internal personnel to complete assignments within discipline.
- Training, Learning + Advancement
- Utilize formal education, including fundamentals of engineering, and apply it in assignments.
- Client + Internal Satisfaction
- Work with internal clients daily and escalates concerns when needed.
- Technical
- Identify existing utilities, establish contact with utility companies, and attend utility coordination meetings.
- Prepare Utility Agreement Assembly packages, including reviewing plans and estimates to evaluate compliance with guidelines, rules, and regulations, determining eligibility and betterment ratios, and preparing documents required by 23 CFR Section 645.
- Attend meetings with individual utility companies and on‑site field visits.
- Assist Project Manager in all aspects of various utility‑based projects.
- Prepare utility relocation schedules and track project deliverables.
- Request as‑built copies from utility owners.
- Maintain electronic files for received utility records.
- Assist in interpreting subsurface utility engineering quality level data to analyze conflicts and develop concept plans.
- Assist in setting up and maintaining project electronic files, developing/maintaining schedules, and maintaining client exhibits (KMZ & GIS).
