Responsibilities
- Prepare boring logs and input laboratory test data and field logs into gINT.
- Submit One Call information for field coordination.
- Edit geotechnical reports and proposals.
- Perform field logging and standard geotechnical laboratory testing duties.
- Convert logs from gINT to Win Core when required.
- Edit gINT and Win Core logs.
- Prepare laboratory assignments.
- Cross‑check laboratory test results.
- Generate Boring Location Maps and Generalized Subsurface Profiles for reports.
- Participate in the Health and Safety and Behavior Based Safety Programs, setting a safety example.
- Ensure safe utilization, storage, and maintenance of documents and tools.
- Update Supervisor on progress and delays on every task or assignment.
- Ensure safe usage and maintenance of company vehicle and field equipment.
- Meet established project deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- College or university Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student in good academic standing in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Possess a current valid state issued driver’s license and meet company auto insurability requirements.
- Considerable knowledge of Civil engineering fundamentals, Geotechnical laboratory test methods, Introduction to geotechnical engineering.
- Working knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and methods.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to multitask, excellent communication, organizational, and judgment skills.
- Available and willing to travel to various job sites.
- Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate information both written and oral, respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently at a job site.
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stop, and talk. Occasionally required to drive vehicle short and/or long distances and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to use hands and reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, focus vision, depth vision.
Noise level for the work environment is moderate to loud.
Work environment is often outside in all-weather conditions and may have potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to noise, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.
