CADD Technician, Brownsville, TX | McAllen, TX

Halff has an immediate opening for a CADD Technician in our Public Works group in Brownsville, TX. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has experience or is interested in Land Development and Public Works/Local Infrastructure projects, including industrial facilities, commercial developments, residential subdivisions, municipal roadways, trails and drainage improvements. This is a great opportunity for beginners to learn engineering design and drafting.

What You Will Do
  • Assist in the drafting of Land Development and Public Works and other group projects, working as part of a design team under the direct supervision of a Lead CADD Technician and Project Manager.
  • Work closely with engineers and other team members to understand project requirements and incorporate feedback into the drawings.
  • Create detailed technical drawings and plans based on rough sketches, specifications, and calculations provided.
  • Modify existing drawings to reflect changes or updates as directed by project managers or engineers.
  • Organize and maintain a digital library of drawings, plans, and related documentation for easy retrieval and reference.
  • Assist in reviewing completed drawings for accuracy and completeness before submission.
  • Support project team coordination activities by providing technical assistance and ensuring timely delivery of drawings.
  • Operate CADD software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Open Roads Designer, to assist with the preparation of roadway, drainage, utility, grading, and site development plan sets.
  • Participate in field surveys, when necessary, to collect data and verify existing conditions.
  • Keep up-to-date with advancements in CADD technology and software, and participate in training and development programs as required.
What You Will Need
  • 0-5 years of experience as a CADD Technician/Drafter.
  • Experience with Land Development and Public Works/Local Infrastructure projects, including light industrial, office/warehouse developments, commercial and residential subdivisions, municipal roadway, trails and drainage preferred.
  • Associate's degree or diploma in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley Open Roads Designer.
  • Certification in CADD software (e.g., AutoCAD Certification) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently as a self‑motivator and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of engineering principles, technical drawing standards, and construction methods.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision in all drawings.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and sketches.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and understand project requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and documentation efficiently.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues in drawings and design plans.

    Efficiently manage time to meet project deadlines and handle multiple assignments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and support colleagues as needed.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel to various project sites.
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
