Overview

We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join the ASAS Health team. The position performs a range of duties that emphasize quality of care and customer service, supporting direct patient services in collaboration with clinical staff.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare for patient visits by reviewing and updating patient records prior to face‑to‑face encounters and/or virtual visits, including recent test results, lab results, and correspondence.
  • Maintain exam rooms according to protocols: clean rooms between patient exams, ensure supplies are stocked, and uphold infection control standards.
  • Prepare patients for a visit and alert the physician or mid‑level provider when the patient is ready to be seen.
  • Provide initial medical screening: greet patients, direct them to the appropriate exam room, take weight, height, temperature, blood pressure, and basic medical history, and document accurately in the medical chart.
  • Assist physicians or mid‑level providers during examinations as requested.
  • Use time efficiently by restocking rooms/shelves/trays, checking supplies, and ensuring that all areas and exam rooms remain clean and orderly.
Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills for taking medical histories and documenting information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff, demonstrating diplomacy and tact.
  • Beginner to intermediate computer and phone skills.
  • Flexibility in job duties and assignments; willingness to cross‑train within other departments.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work effectively in a high‑stress, fast‑moving environment.
  • Culturally sensitive and effective with ethnically diverse populations.
  • Understanding of “Universal Precautions” and professional conduct.
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA non‑disclosure standards.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish and other languages strongly preferred.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license preferred, insurance, and ability to travel as required.
Education
  • High school graduate (or GED) required.
  • Current, valid certification of Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Current, valid CPR certification.
  • Benefits
    • Reimbursement up to $250 for Medical Assistant certification or recertification within 90 days of start date ($150 for exam, $100 for approved training materials).
