ABOUT US:
We are an established independent pharmacy specializing in non-schedule II medications. We recently relocated to McAllen, TX and we are seeking a full-time pharmacy technician for our new location.
YOUR ROLE:Perform under supervision a variety of technical duties related to the preparing and dispensing of drugs according to standard procedure.
POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed all continuing education requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred
- Texas State Board of Pharmacy certification required
- Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues
- Good written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
- Minimum one (1) year experience as a pharmacy technician
- Experience with Best Rx pharmacy software preferred
- Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practice
- Fill physician orders/prescriptions
- Deliver medications and supplies to patients
- Prepare medications for courier pickup
- Answer telephones and directs calls to appropriate personnel.
- Enter charges and credits for patient medications.
- Enter medication orders/prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system.
- Provide technical support for automated equipment (Automated Dispensing Units).
- Maintain logs, records and other required documentation. File documentation in the appropriate location.
- Complete and document all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly. Identify and replace outdated and unusable drugs. Monitor assigned quality improvement indicators of individual or departmental performance. Stock medications and supplies; package medications as required for dispensing.
- Keeps pharmacy equipment clean
- Keeps pharmacy areas clean, neat, and well organized
- Other duties as assigned
The most qualified candidates will have 1 or more years of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail and/or specialty pharmacy environment. Additionally, you should have:
