Primary

Purpose:

The Intern‑Technology Support Technician will provide all students, teachers, school leaders and departmental staff technical support on all technological devices, focusing on technology support, projects, implementation, and integration. The technician will deliver support primarily through onsite, district remote, and help desk solutions, ensuring prompt response, research, and guidance for all district devices and initiatives. The role emphasizes technology process, functionality, customer service, data risk management, privacy education, and creation of a trusted learning environment.

Qualifications

Education / Certification:

  • High School diploma (required)
  • COMPTIA certification (preferred)
  • Enrolled with a minimum of 3 credit hours at a higher learning institution in Computer Science or a related field (required)
  • 2.5 GPA or higher (required)

Work Availability: 3–4 hours Monday through Friday for a 19‑hour week.

Special Knowledge /

Skills:

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), assess, research, evaluate, and make logical decisions; planning and implementation skills; knowledge of technology devices and software applications; aptitude for repairing technology hardware and software; willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends, to execute technology projects.

Experience: Experience in technology (preferred); experience with Windows, Mac OSX, network printers, scanners, mobile devices, and their operating systems (preferred).

Workdays / Hours

19‑hour week, 3–4 hours Monday through Friday.

Major Responsibilities and Duties / Essential Functions
  • Provide excellent professional customer service to students, parents, staff, and stakeholders in technology solutions and issue resolution.
  • Develop and train technology users on proper guidance for prompt support and use of technology devices and district applications.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and wireless issues swiftly and effectively.
  • Provide district hardware, software, application, and support solutions, awareness, and training for all district technology.
  • Collaborate with all district campuses and departments to implement solutions and communicate effectively through all technological media.
  • Understand all district software and hardware technology, including but not limited to computers, tablets, mobile devices, monitors, printers, scanners, casting devices, projectors, interactive boards, and document cameras.
  • Plan with all technology levels to execute action plans for effective support and deployment of technology devices, and to manage moves, installations, and disposals.
  • Prepare and continuously update the technology equipment inventory.
  • Work with the Department of Technology to facilitate installation or updating of technology devices and specialized software.
  • Contribute to creating a cooperative, collaborative, high‑performing, and solutions‑oriented department.
  • Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor in accordance with funding source guidelines.
