Responsibilities
The RN is responsible for managing patients admitted or seen for medical conditions or surgical procedures. The RN performs the primary function of a professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, guiding, and evaluating nursing care provided to patients. The RN provides safe, competent nursing care in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy, and offers professional leadership and support to the healthcare team.
The RN applies the principles of Patient Centered Care as the foundation for all nursing care, conducts assessments related to specific conditions, therapies, and interventions, oversees and guides nursing employees under their supervision, and interacts with hospital staff and ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflict resolution. The RN may be required to work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, and/or on‑call status.
The RN demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.
- BCLS/CPR – current upon hire and thereafter.
- ACLS – if required in unit, nurses with a year or less of experience must obtain within 12 months of hire, or within 6 months of hire if in Labor and Delivery or Post‑Partum; nurses with over a year of experience must obtain within 6 months of hire; if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times.
