Assistant Manager

Role Description

The Assistant Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in McAllen, TX. This role supports the Store Manager in daily store operations, including supervising sales associates, driving sales, and ensuring excellent customer service. Responsibilities include assisting with merchandising, inventory management, and maintaining visual standards that reflect Tillys’ brand. The Assistant Manager helps with scheduling, training, and coaching team members to meet performance and compliance expectations.

This role also contributes to loss prevention efforts, upholds store policies, and creates a positive, inclusive work environment that supports both customers and the team.

• Experience in retail or customer-facing roles, with skills in customer service, sales support, and resolving customer concerns
• Supervisory or team leadership skills, including the ability to coach staff, delegate tasks, and support performance management
• Operational skills in merchandising, inventory handling, and maintaining store presentation and cleanliness
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, and management
• Basic business and organizational skills, including time management, problem-solving, and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for extended periods, move merchandise, and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Prior experience in fashion or specialty retail is preferred but not required
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in business, retail management, or a related field is a plus
