Job Description

The Laboratory Coordinator, under general supervision, supplies, maintains, and organizes laboratory equipment. Prepares materials and trains teaching assistants.

Qualifications

We are recruiting for all levels of Lab Coordinators; however, our current needs are for Lab Coordinator I, Lab Coordinator II and Lab Coordinator III level positions.

Responsibilities for a Lab Coordinator I
  • Oversees daily lab operations and student worker staffing.
  • Handles lab administrative needs under general supervision.
  • Handles lab budget, ordering, maintenance, and organization under general supervision.
  • Applies standard engineering/scientific techniques to support academic labs.
  • Works closely with leadership/team, focusing on skill development.
  • Support instructional needs of the labs, including safety, equipment, and labs as needed.
  • Support in additive and subtractive manufacturing, welding, and other project support.
  • Explicit team collaboration.
Minimum qualifications for a Lab Coordinator I
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of experience in a related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities for a Lab Coordinator II
  • Oversees lab daily operations, student worker staffing, and potentially full‑time staff.
  • Responsible for lab administrative needs; collaborates with leadership.
  • Manages lab budget, ordering, maintenance, and equipment organization; collaborates with leadership.
  • Applies standard engineering/scientific techniques to support academic labs.
  • Support instructional needs of the labs, including safety, equipment, and labs as needed.
  • Support in additive and subtractive manufacturing, welding, and other project support.
  • Coordination with leadership and team, emphasizing strengths and group expertise.
  • Distinguished by greater independence and staff management.
  • Teamwork emphasized with more weight on individual strengths.
Minimum qualifications for a Lab Coordinator II
  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience in a related field or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities for a Lab Coordinator III
  • Oversees lab daily operations, full‑time and student worker staffing, all administrative duties.
  • Leads lab budget, ordering, maintenance, and equipment organization independently.
  • Applies standard engineering/scientific techniques to support academic labs.
  • Support instructional needs of the labs, including safety, equipment, and labs as needed.
  • Support in additive and subtractive manufacturing, welding, and other project support.
