CBP Aircraft Mechanic Overview

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection, and aircraft servicing functions on assigned aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment in accordance with applicable instructions.

• Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft in accordance with 14 CFR, DoD regulations, technical manuals, and other applicable data.
• Conduct daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft.
• Inspect, control corrosion, troubleshoot and isolate faults on aircraft systems.
• Fly on government aircraft for relocation, conduct in‑flight checks (test flights), and perform troubleshooting that cannot be completed on the ground.
• Travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States and to other support sites as required.
• Use personal hand tools for aircraft maintenance; customer will furnish necessary special tools and test equipment.
• Perform additional duties as required to support the overall mission.

• Valid State driver’s license.
• Willingness to undergo random drug testing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (US citizenship required).
• High school graduate or equivalency certification from an accredited program.
• Valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
• Competent in repair and maintenance of fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing aircraft, including airframes, structural, hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems, and engines.
• Proficient in troubleshooting, interpreting schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, FAA, company, and other directives.
• Reliable, demonstrates good judgment, follows base, federal, and company procedures for handling hazardous waste.
• Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain workflow.
• Proficient in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in English.
• Strong technical data comprehension and interpretation skills.

• Physically capable of performing aircraft mechanic duties, moving freely in the aircraft interior, and meeting weight limits.
• Stand, squat, sit, walk, and work with arms overhead for extended periods.
• May be required to wear a respirator.
• Pull, push, and lift up to 50lb.
• May work in high‑noise areas requiring ear protection.

• At least two years of rotary‑wing aircraft experience.
• Experience on UH‑60 Blackhawk highly desired.

Hourly Rate: $41.47
