Duties

Hourly Rate:
The hourly rate listed reflects the range of wage schedules for the locations included within this job announcement. Refer to the Federal Wage (FWS) website for additional wage schedule and hourly rate information for your specific location. This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Enterprise Services (ES), Office of Facilities and Asset Management (OFAM), Operational Support Facilities Division (OSF), Border Patrol & Air and Marine (BPAM) Program Management Office (PMO).

This position starts at an hourly rate of $32.57 (WG-10, Step
1) to $42.34 (WG-10, Step
5). Typical duties include:
Perform facilities maintenance work primarily involving two or more trade practices such as heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, grounds maintenance, and repair of facilities such as buildings, structures, grounds, and related fixtures and utilities, and carpentry trades. Coordinate, monitor, and perform installation and repair duties for the upkeep, operation, and utilization of the agency's facilities. Provide leadership with input and feedback for facility repair activities, including the necessary reports, specifications, and documentation.

Performs all or substantially all of the following types of repairs:
Electrical, Air Conditioning, Painting, Plumbing, Carpentry

You must be available to work overtime on a scheduled or unscheduled basis. Physical Effort:
The work requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Operates a variety of hand and power tools, and equipment. Lifts and carries heavy pieces of lumber or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Works inside and outside subject to sudden temperature changes; exposed to dirt, sewage, dust, grease, fumes, and steam. Employee is subject to injury from use of hand and power tools, also to dust, dirt, burns, cuts, bruises, and electrical shock. May be required to wear and/or use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and other standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

Experience:

You qualify for the WG-10 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Performing building maintenance, construction, and repair utilizing knowledge and application of trades such as electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, pipe fitting, air-conditioning and refrigeration. Ensure continual, safe, and proper operation of all building systems to include, but not limited to the upkeep of buildings, grounds and related structures, fixtures, and utilities. Interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, drawings and specifications, and other technical guides.
