Position Summary:
The Technician, Facility Services, HVAC, is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems and related building equipment to ensure optimal facility operations. This role involves interpreting technical documentation, configuring control systems, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and performing preventive maintenance. The technician collaborates with management and facility partners to support operational efficiency, adheres to safety and regulatory standards, and maintains accurate records.
This position requires effective communication, adherence to company protocols, and participation in on-call rotations to address service needs across multiple locations.
What You'll Do:
- Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC systems, building equipment, ductwork, and control components following technical documentation and codes.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control issues affecting HVAC and facility systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Perform preventive maintenance, system inspections, and necessary repairs to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
- Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely while adhering to OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, parts usage, and complete work orders and reports as required.
- Communicate effectively with facility operators and partners regarding service needs and task status.
- Participate in on-call rotations and manage work assignments using digital tools and scheduling.
What You'll Bring:
- Proven experience installing, configuring, and maintaining HVAC systems, including ductwork and control components.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics, layout plans, and documentation to ensure accurate and code-compliant installations.
- Skilled in diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and control system issues affecting HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards, safety protocols, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Competence in using digital tools for work order management, scheduling, and documentation.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with facility operators and team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
Vocational or technical HVAC certification and 2 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC and building controls. Option 1: 4 years' experience in mechanical maintenance, electrical, plumbing, material handling- equipment, or related trades. Option 2: 2 years' store experience. Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to pass motor vehicle report. Valid EPA Section 608 Certification for the handling and servicing of refrigerants.
Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years. Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years. No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years. No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of a 2-year vocational or technical HVAC program. Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
