Ocean Import/Export Specialist – We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our client’s logistics team in McAllen, TX. This role coordinates international ocean shipments, processes import/export documentation, and ensures full compliance with U.S. Customs and other regulatory agencies.

Monday - Friday – 8 am-6 pm

Summary

The Ocean Import/Export Specialist is responsible for processing ocean import and export shipments in accordance with internal policies, customer requirements, and all applicable laws and regulations. This role ensures accurate documentation, timely shipment processing, and high-quality customer service.

Essential Functions
  • Process ocean import and export shipments in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Coordinate shipment documentation and ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and other government agencies
  • Provide professional customer service to internal and external clients via email, phone, and system communications
  • Perform accounting-related tasks, including client invoicing and cost tracking, per customer-specific SOPs
  • Accurately enter and maintain shipment data in internal systems while meeting KPIs
  • Support compliance with ISF, FDA, OGA, and other regulatory requirements as applicable
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in ocean import/export or freight forwarding preferred
  • Strong knowledge of import entry procedures, compliance rules, and regulations
  • Experience with First Port of Arrival (FPOA) entries preferred
  • FDA, ISF, and OGA transaction experience preferred
Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding practices, terminology, and ocean shipping procedures
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team
