Job Description

PRIMARY

PURPOSE:

Responsible for processing warehouse transactions in the District warehouse through accurate physical and perpetual inventory systems, through proper documentation of shipment and inventory transfer requests, and through systematized protocols of safety stock procurement. To assist in the day-to-day operations of an efficient and effective warehouse including the management of the shipment tracking and inventory systems. All primary duties to be performed are to ensure needed supplies and equipment are provided to maximize student learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent, required

Valid Texas driver’s Class C license, required

Clear driving record, required

Certified forklift operator, preferred

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Ability to setup and troubleshoot shipment tracking and inventory systems, required

Ability to monitor safety stock levels and perform cycle inventory, required

Ability to perform data processing computer tasks, required

Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, electric pallet jack, required

Ability to operate mailroom equipment

Knowledge of general shipping and receiving procedures

Knowledge of material handling equipment such as 2-wheel hand trucks, hydraulic hand pallet trucks, etc.

Proficiency in Computers and Microsoft Office

Proficiency in English and Spanish, required

Experience:

Three (3) years of work experience in warehouse, inventory, asset management, logistics or related, required

Workdays: 242

Clerical/Technical Pay Structure: Pay Grade5

Pay Date: Monthly

Hourly Pay Range:

Minimum: $19.50

Midpoint: $23.21

Maximum: $26.92

Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure cycle counts are accurate, timely and recorded appropriately.
  • Procure safety stock items as needed by soliciting competitive quotes and entering requisitions.
  • Reduce warehouse inventory through proper reviews and disposal of obsolete items.
  • Maintain the warehouse shipment tracking system to ensure that it is operational and accurate.
  • Manage incoming customer requests and ensure tasks to meet customer requests are completed timely and accurately.
  • Assist with posting daily receipts, shipments and transfers in the inventory management system.
  • Assist in compiling data from multiple sources such as contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and accounting reports and enter information into system to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Assist in receiving and tagging equipment and coordinate delivery to schools and departments efficiently while ensuring proper documentation is completed and processed.
  • Assist in maintaining the district’s capital asset, equipment and stock item inventory.
  • Assist with warehouse physical and cycle inventory counts and maintain an accurate inventory database.
  • Provide inventory reports as needed and observe all record retention rules.
  • Assist with mailroom services to include post office pick-up, sorting and delivering of mail to all campuses and departments.
  • Operate a forklift, pallet jack, and/or electric pallet jack for movement of supplies.
  • Safeguard supplies and equipment against theft and damage while on duty.
  • Adhere to sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Maintain professional growth by attending in-services and meetings as requested.
  • Work outside of regular assigned work schedule as necessary. Included night and/or weekend duty.
  • Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
  • Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
