Overview
Hospital-wide departments. Under general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, and the Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse uses the nursing process to safely coordinate total patient care and education for patients as they are admitted and discharged from the facility. The nurse will rotate between weekends and holidays according to the needs of the facility. The nurse is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization.
The Registered Nurse will function independently in ICU, CVSU, ED, medical-surgical floors, and telemetry floors. Assignments are made based on current staffing needs. The employee must work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. The employee is responsible for documenting total care given, reviewing and maintaining patient charts per policy, and assisting with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
The employee is responsible for maintaining all certifications and licensure requirements on time.
- Document total care provided and maintain patient charts per policy.
- Assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
- Coordinate total patient care and education during admission and discharge.
- Collaborate with the CNO, ACNO, Nurse Manager, physicians, administrators, staff, home health, outpatient clinics, and other ancillary departments to solve problems and promote teamwork.
- Function independently in ICU, CVSU, ED, medical-surgical, and telemetry units as assigned.
- Rotate between weekends and holidays as required by staffing needs.
- Maintain professional and non-defensive interactions with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
- Current registered nurse licensure (as required by the employing state).
- Ability to work across multiple units (ICU, CVSU, ED, med-surg, telemetry).
- Pass pharmacology test for this position.
- Attend yearly mandatory and assigned Healthstream education requirements; arrange and attend sessions as needed.
- Maintain all certifications and licensure requirements on time.
- Strong collaboration skills with CNO, ACNO, Nurse Manager, physicians, and staff.
