Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
SUMMARY OF POSITION
This position is responsible for industrial maintenance duties on equipment, machinery, building, and grounds. It includes machine installation and construction, plumbing, carpentry, and basic electrical work.
Essential Functions- Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and equipment.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling machines or components, using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools.
- Diagnose problems and perform necessary repairs to safely return equipment to operating condition.
- Perform planned maintenance activities such as cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery or plant equipment, and install electrical equipment.
- Work on hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electronic components, including replacing AC and DC motors.
- Operate and perform MIG and Arc welding as required.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes and milling machines to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
- Demonstrate professionalism with colleagues and internal and external customers.
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures to reduce risk to health and the environment; report unsafe conditions or incidents to leadership immediately.
- Participate in peer‑based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and support initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and 5‑S.
- Contribute to project teams, star‑point teams, and kaizen events as needed.
- Attend and participate in required training opportunities to develop in the role.
- 2‑year technical degree in electrical field or equivalent preferred.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

- Operation of material handling equipment and hoists, if required.
- Operate material handling equipment.
- Perform work in hot and cold temperatures.
- Work outdoors.
- Operate at heights above ground level.
- Report directly to Facilities Specialist.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve process and equipment issues.
The employee may be subject to high noise levels from operating machines and equipment, physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels, exposure to nuisance fumes and dust, and required safety equipment such as steel‑toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, and high‑visibility clothing.
Standing is required for extended periods. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting are performed regularly. High manual dexterity may be required under restrictive conditions. Flexible hours and short‑notice overtime may be necessary.
