Job DescriptionThe WEC Detention Facility is seeking a highly efficient, self‑motivated, well‑organized candidate for the position of Corrections Captain. The facility houses adults who have been adjudicated and are awaiting deportation. For Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations, please contact Megan Jones es.
Job Duties- Supervises, assigns and evaluates the work of subordinate custody/security staff.
- Responsible for all operations, control and security of areas as assigned.
- Inspects all areas within the facility to ensure detainee discipline is being maintained.
- Exercises responsibility over the armory and controls the use of all firearms.
- Conducts investigations involving staff, detainees and visitors as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related Behavioral Science plus four years correctional related experience.
Associate’s degree plus six years correctional related experience.
High School education or equivalent plus eight years correctional related experience.
One year of the experience must have been in a responsible supervisory capacity. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
- Experience developing operational procedures and complying with ACA standards.
- Previous investigator training.
- Completion of a leadership program.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre‑employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test.
- Upon completion of Staff Training Academy, successful completion of the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program is required.
