Overview

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful delivery of commercial construction projects by assisting with planning, coordination, documentation, and cost control throughout the entire project lifecycle. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients, the APM helps ensure projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet safety and quality standards. This role is heavily involved in project administration, including procurement, subcontractor coordination, document management, cost tracking, and closeout, while also building the skills needed to advance into a Project Manager position.

Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with project teams and external partners, managing key documentation such as RFIs, submittals, contracts, and change orders, and tracking deliverables to ensure timely completion. The APM assists with budget monitoring, cost reporting, invoice and pay application processing, and change order tracking, while also supporting procurement efforts and subcontractor oversight, including compliance and scheduling. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate project records, contributing to meetings and status updates, monitoring schedule progress, identifying potential delays, and supporting quality control and project closeout activities, including punch lists and final documentation turnover.

Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of experience in commercial construction, project engineering, or project coordination roles.
  • Experience supporting large commercial construction projects preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent construction industry experience may be considered.
  • Construction management platforms (Procore, Autodesk, or similar)
  • Bluebeam or similar document review software
  • Scheduling software familiarity (Primavera P6 or similar) preferred
Pluses
  • Experience with mission-critical, datacenter, or complex infrastructure projects is a plus.
