Main Responsibilities:
- Process the complete payroll cycle - including salaries, benefits, deductions, garnishments, and tax with holdings - ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Handle payroll updates for new hires, terminations, promotions, and other adjustments
- Develop and refine payroll procedures to drive process improvement
- Maintain compliance with federal, state and local regulations concerning wage and hour laws, payroll taxes and reporting mandates
- Prepare, reconcile, and analyze payroll reports - including tax filings and year-end operations like W-2 distribution
- Assist with internal and external payroll audits by providing documentation and ensuring integrity control
- Address employee inquires related to payroll and uphold confidentiality of sensitive information
- Monitor changes in payroll laws and regulations and update policies to maintain compliance
- Assists with Employment Verifications and DOL inquiries, as needed
- Assists Payroll Manager with special projects as needed
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
Experience:
- 8 - 10 years of progressive experience in multi-state payroll, garnishment administration
- Experience with UKG PRO or similar HR/Payroll software and proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel)
- Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and employment law
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, organizational ability, and ability to prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills; high level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Deep understanding of payroll regulations, tax filings, and wage laws
- Ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision and excellent time management skills
Payroll Certification a plus
