The Director of Maintenance & Facilities is responsible for leading the strategic and operational execution of maintenance, facilities management, and automation reliability across all North America Distribution Centers (DCs). This leader partners cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and external vendors.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintenance & Reliability Strategy
- Develop and deploy a North America-wide maintenance strategy aligned with operational and business goals.
- Lead uptime optimization initiatives for critical material handling systems (conveyors, sorters, robotics0
- Facilities Management
- Oversee facility infrastructure including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, cleaning, janitorial and building systems.
- Manage vendor contracts and service-level agreements (SLAs) for facilities services.
- Automation & Technology Leadership
- Ensure reliability and performance of warehouse automation systems and control systems
- Partner with Engineering and IT to deploy new automation technologies and upgrades.
- Drive adoption of digital tools such as CMMS, IoT monitoring, predictive analytics, and AI-based maintenance systems.
- Lead capital planning, budgeting, and execution for maintenance, spare parts management, facility upgrades, and automation projects.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
- Build and lead a high-performing regional maintenance organization (regional managers, site leaders, technicians).
- Define and track key KPIs: equipment uptime, MTBF, MTTR, maintenance cost per unit, schedule compliance.
- Drive performance reviews and corrective action plans for underperforming sites.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial)
- 10+ years of experience and leadership in maintenance, facilities, manufacturing, or logistics environments.
- Strong experience with automated material handling systems
- Willingness to travel across North America (~10–25%)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree (MBA or Engineering)
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma
- Experience leading large-scale capital projects ($5M+).
- Familiarity with WMS/WCS systems and integration.
