Position OverviewThe Assistant/Business Manager assists the Community Manager in enhancing the community, ensuring profit, and delivering resident satisfaction. Key duties include resolving resident issues, managing accounts receivable/payable, and maintaining all Yardi records.
Job Description / Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in preparing the annual operating budget.
- Collect all rents and other incomes while controlling property expenses within the budget guidelines.
- Ensure all bank deposits comply with company policy.
- Process all invoices weekly and submit them to Accounting with required paperwork.
- Perform all on‑site accounting functions.
- Collect and process all payroll for the community.
- Provide superior customer service.
- Resolve resident concerns.
- Maintain a professional image.
- Interact successfully with people.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Employ strong organizational skills.
- Perform other duties as delegated.
- Manage the community in the absence of the Community Manager.
- Adhere to and implement all Fortis Properties Management policies and procedures.
- Possess thorough knowledge of the computer system.
- Fair Housing policies and procedures.
- Life/Safety issues.
- ADA, OSHA, EPA policies and procedures.
- Ability to walk the property and climb stairs.
- Flexibility to work weekends and extended hours as needed.
Received: The Assistant Manager reports to the Community Manager and/or Regional Property Manager.
Exercised: The Assistant Manager coordinates with the Community Manager to supervise all on‑site associates and outside contractors.
Qualifications & Skills Education- Two‑ or four‑year college degree preferred.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of multi‑family property management preferred.
- Strong marketing and sales background.
- Accounting system functions.
- Proficiency with property management software (Yardi, Real Page, MRI, App Folio).
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) skills.
