Under broad supervision, provide assistance to public health nurses and county programs. Provide general direct nursing care, including medical treatments, administering medication, and giving injections. Assigned to specific clinical duties within the scope of an LPN practice in public health and act as lead worker over specified projects or programs.
Essential Workforce NoteAll District 4 Public Health, County BOH employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. You may be called to participate in staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC), a Point of Distribution site (POD) or other emergency activities, during or outside regular hours.
Responsibilities- Administer immunizations to all age patients according to established guidelines and procedures.
- Perform annual school and daycare immunization audits.
- Complete quarterly reports.
- Assist with annual scoliosis screenings.
- Participate in health fairs and educational programs.
- Perform TB screenings and administer PPD skin test in clinic and outreach events.
- Prepare to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
- Use computer technology to collect, store, and retrieve data.
- Participate in program planning.
- Communicate in writing, orally, and through electronic means, with proper terminology and cultural proficiency.
- Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds (e.g., cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental and physical capabilities).
- Adhere to the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Use individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
- Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college.
- Current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- CPR certification.
- Completion of all necessary orientation and training for Public Health LPN.
- No experience required.
- Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college.
- Two years of LPN public health experience.
- Current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- CPR certification.
- Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college.
- Four years of LPN public health experience.
- Current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- CPR certification.
- Public Health experience.
- Experience with screenings, immunizations, GRITS, and interviewing patients.
- Bilingual Spanish/English speaking language.
