Retail Associate/ Customer Service, Customer Service Rep
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress‑free, fun, and engaging experience for guests.
- Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop and find what they’re looking for, and ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience.
- Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to deliver our Brand Promises.
- Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
- Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities, and facilitate party add‑ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards.
- Communicate events with clients and store team members.
- Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
- Adjust plans and events based on client’s feedback and needs, and create backup or emergency plans when necessary.
- Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events and uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards.
- Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
- Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
- Participate in the truck unload, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes; complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
- Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
- Support shrink and safety programs; adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.
- Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner, remain positive and respectful, and promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values.
- Cross‑train in Custom Framing selling and production and participate in daily store cleanliness activities (sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms).
- Retail and/or customer service experience required.
- Excellent people skills; experience working with children and children’s events.
- Good communication skills including written, verbal, and non‑verbal communication, listening skills, and the ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others.
- Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem‑solving skills.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and personable; ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests of all ages and co‑workers.
- Experience in event coordination at a retail setting.
- Ability to engage clients and staff in a fun and creative environment.
- Knowledge of Store operations, merchandise recovery, and inventory processes.
Ability to remain standing for long periods of time; move throughout the store; regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching; lift heavy boxes and access high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
Work EnvironmentPublic retail store setting; all public areas climate controlled; some stock rooms may not be climate controlled; some outdoor work may be assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks. Frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
