PAY RANGE
Starting pay range per hour: $21.25 - $23.25. Full pay range per hour: $21.25 - $36.15. Pay is based on labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

ALL ABOUT ASSETS PROTECTIONAssets Protection (AP) teams keep guests, team members, and the brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks and preventing theft and fraud, ensuring product availability for guests. AP teams build relationships inside and outside Target, including store leaders and public safety officials.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Using surveillance and intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure while aiding in the reduction of shortage.
- Using Target’s video surveillance system to monitor guests and identify potential theft risks.
- Implementing Target’s Assets Protection practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage.
- Properly and effectively documenting cases.
- Identifying strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and apprehending offenders.
Typical day responsibilities include:
Greet guests warmly at 10ft and 4ft distances, help guests find items, resolve issues, and thank guests sincerely. Actively support team efforts and assist peers. Adjust to business and guest needs. Support store sales, guest service, and profitability by ensuring products are in stock and preventing theft. Resolve theft by using good judgment and conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas.
Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics. Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues. Understand and appropriately use video systems to monitor theft activity. Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation for all incidents following AP policy and procedures. Promote a physical security and safety culture for our team members and guests, creating awareness and training safe and secure standards.
Demonstrate inclusivity, valuing diverse voices and approaches, and create equitable experiences. Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with safety policies and report hazards. Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement. Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests. All other duties based on business needs.
- At least 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members.
- Effective communication skills on multiple frequency devices and handheld scanners.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and with a team.
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established time frames.
- Climb up and down ladders.
- Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy.
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting or moving items up to 40 pounds.
- Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; come to work as scheduled and take required meal and rest breaks.
- Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive‑Up and carryout.
- Remain mobile throughout scheduled shift.
