Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in McDonough, Georgia.
Position DescriptionWe are looking for a senior‑level diesel technician to provide maintenance and repair support for our fleet of heavy‑duty trucks. The role includes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, parts replacement, and supervisor duties for junior technicians.

- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
- Sign‑On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days

Second Shift 11:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
- Basic tools, required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred
- All other certifications as required by location, required
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles
- Must pass a Ryder drug test
- Must pass a DOT physical
- Must pass a Ryder road test
- Must pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers where applicable
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
- Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix within 365 days
