Essential Duties:
  • Perform maintenance duties, jobs, tasks, functions, and responsibilities as assigned by work orders or directed by supervisors to maintain Facilities & Maintenance Department vehicles.
  • Follow work schedules as assigned by supervisors to maintain maintenance vehicles, including off-hour emergency maintenance situations.
  • Complete all work orders as assigned in a timely, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Maintain, care for, and keep up with all assigned equipment, materials, and supplies necessary to fulfill duties and responsibilities.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations; follow all equipment, material, and product use directions.
  • Adhere to all school system personnel rules and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, such as repair records and inspection reports.
  • Participate in training and staff development activities as may be required by the school system or state and federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or state-approved High School Equivalency (HSE).
  • Must have valid Class C driver’s license and be able to drive county vehicles.
  • Must have a combination of experience and training in maintaining, repairing and rebuilding automotive engines, including diesels. ASE Certification preferred.
  • Ability to pass annual physical.
  • Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
  • Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
  • Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably lity to be present at the physical worksite.
  • Ability and willingness to be on call 24/7, 365 days a year to respond to emergencies and other events; working outside of normal business hours is required.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, sitting, stooping, reaching, crawling, kneeling, and climbing (stairs, lifts, and ladders).
  • Ability to perform routine physical activities including, but not limited to, repetitive motion, bending, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds, and heavier weights with assistance.
  • Noise level of work environment is moderate to loud, and requires exposure to inclement weather conditions, dust, dirt, and confined areas. May be exposed to asbestos containing materials.
  • Repetitive motion is required.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
