We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant / Full-Charge Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role will be responsible for accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, inventory accounting, balance sheet management, and sales tax compliance. The Staff Accountant will work closely with leadership and external tax professionals to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial processes.

Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications
Required

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 3+ years of experience in a staff accountant or full-charge bookkeeping role

• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles (GAAP)

Hands-on experience with AP, AR, payroll, and balance sheet reconciliations

• Experience handling sales tax filings

• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Preferred

• Experience with inventory accounting

• Experience working with external CPAs or tax firms

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

• High level of accuracy and confidentiality

• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Key Responsibilities
General Accounting & Bookkeeping

• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, timely recording of financial transactions

• Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations

• Manage and reconcile balance sheet accounts (bank, credit cards, accruals, prepaid expenses, etc.)
Accounts Payable (AP)

• Process vendor invoices, match purchase orders, and ensure timely payments

• Manage vendor relationships and resolve billing discrepancies

• Maintain accurate AP records and aging reports
Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Generate and send customer invoices

• Apply customer payments and manage collections as needed

• Reconcile AR accounts and maintain accurate aging schedules
Payroll

• Process payroll accurately and on schedule

• Manage payroll-related reconciliations and reporting

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Inventory Accounting

• Track inventory transactions and maintain accurate inventory records

• Reconcile inventory accounts and support inventory counts

• Collaborate with operations to ensure proper inventory valuation and controls
Sales Tax & Compliance

• Prepare and file sales tax returns and related reports

• Ensure compliance with applicable state and local sales tax regulations
Tax Support

• Coordinate with external tax preparers by providing required documentation and reports

• Assist with audits and inquiries from tax authorities as needed

Income tax preparation is handled by an external firm.)
Reporting & Support

• Prepare financial reports and schedules for management review

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed

• Support internal and external audits
