As an Elementary Special Education Teacher (LBS1) in McHenry, IL your days will include:
- Instructing elementary-age students from grades 1st-3rd grade in a self-contained autism program
- Providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring IEP goals while maintaining compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and district policies.
- Creating engaging, differentiated lesson plans that meet the academic, behavioral, social, and functional needs of students.
- Collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student growth and success.
- Conducting progress monitoring, maintaining accurate documentation, and preparing required reports.
- Managing classroom behavior using evidence-based instructional and behavioral intervention strategies.
- Participating in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student independence and achievement.
- Position: 2 contract openings (option to renew for the following school year) for an elementary self-contained autism program; supports in place with 3 paraprofessionals. Related service staff are also connected directly to this program.
- Hours: Full-time (Monday - Friday) 8:45 - 4:05 with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break
- Caseload: 2 openings available ranging from 1st through 3rd grade for a self-contained autism program
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related education field from an accredited college or university
- Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) Endorsement required (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
- Experience collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Self-contained elementary experience specifically with ASD students
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and inform instruction
- Successful completion of all required background checks and district onboarding requirements
- The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
