Special Education Teacher

Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois LBS1 and PEL credentials required
• Experience working with students diagnosed with autism preferred
• Demonstrated ability to create and implement individualized instruction plans
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with paraprofessionals and related service providers
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to a caseload of eight elementary-aged students in a self-contained classroom
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Lead and collaborate with a team of paraprofessionals to support student learning and growth
• Maintain communication with support staff, families, and administration
• Participate in meetings, training, and required district onboarding, including fingerprinting as part of pre-employment checks

This contract position runs from August 17, 2026, through May 26, 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 8:45 AM to 4:05 PM, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
