Neuro Clinic and Assessments, PLLC is a growing private neuropsychology and psychology practice serving McHenry, Lake, and Cook, DuPage, and Kane Counties in Illinois. The practice focuses on neuropsychological testing for adolescents, adults, and older adults, and we our expanding our psychotherapy services. Clinicians work with a wide range of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral concerns, with particular attention to complex presentations.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Clinical Mental Health Counselor position (LCSW, LCPC, PhD, PsyD) located in McHenry, IL, with a focus on trauma and neurodivergent populations. The clinician will provide individual psychotherapy to adults using trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming approaches. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting intake assessments, formulating diagnoses, and developing individualized treatment plans. The role involves maintaining a manageable caseload (goal of 23+ clients per week), providing ongoing therapy, monitoring progress, and adjusting interventions as needed.

The clinician will collaborate with the broader clinical team, coordinate care with external providers when appropriate, and complete timely documentation in accordance with ethical and regulatory standards. Additional responsibilities may include participation in case consultations, staff meetings, and occasional community or educational outreach related to trauma and neurodivergence.

Mental Health Counselor Responsibilities
  • Provide individual counseling for clients experiencing mental health concerns.
  • Utilize evidence-based and trauma-informed treatment approaches, such as IFS, DBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, and other related interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans based on client needs and progress.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including initial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Conduct risk assessments, crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals as needed.
  • Educate clients and families on trauma, coping skills, resilience, and recovery.
  • Foster a safe, culturally responsive, trauma-informed therapeutic environment.
  • Adhere to ethical, legal, and professional standards, including client confidentiality.
  • Provide strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming counseling for autistic, ADHD, and other neurodivergent clients.
  • Adapt therapeutic approaches and communication styles to meet cognitive, sensory, emotional, and executive functioning needs.
  • Integrate trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming practices into treatment planning and care.
  • Collaborate with families, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners to support client goals and well-being.
Requirements
  • Active, independent clinical license in Illinois (LCPC, LCSW, PsyD, or PhD) or eligibility for such licensure within a defined time frame.
  • Master’s/doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, social work or a related field
  • Full-time caseload considered as 23+ clients per week
  • Will complete electronic notes and documentation within 48 hours of session
What we offer
  • This W-2 position offers a revenue-sharing model, with therapists receiving 60% of collected session fees for the first year and 65% each year thereafter (hourly earnings are roughly estimated as $90-100/hr for licensed clinical psychologists and $60-70/hr for others.) Those desiring a 1099 position would still be considered with reimbursement rates at 70% but without benefits.
