Maintenance Manager
The Street & Utility Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising the maintenance of the City’s right of ways, infrastructure, underground utilities, and City owned property. The Supervisor oversees the Street & Utility Division employees. In addition, this position is responsible for supervising all personnel assisting in the performance of snow and ice control operations.
The Street & Utility Supervisor reports to and is supervised by the Superintendent of the Street & Utility Division. This is a full-time, supervisory, FLSA exempt position. The primary focus of this position is to provide a direct service, and the work of the position is non-routine and performed outdoors. The position is performed with considerable independence and is responsible for scheduling his own work, taking initiatives in decision-making, and solving problems without direction.
The position is responsible for evaluating employees and dealing with confidential matters. The employee is expected to expand his own level of training as needed and appropriate to effectively carry out the duties and tasks of the position. The position may be required to coordinate and delegate work with co-workers within its own department as well as other divisions and departments.
The starting salary for this position will be $. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period the salary will be increased to $.
- Supervise, schedule, and assign tasks to crew members.
- Ensure work area is safe and all workers have proper safety gear/equipment.
- Ensure all required equipment is available at thejob site.
- Updatethe Street &Utility Superintendentastocompletedworkassignmentsandworkperformanceofcrew members.
- Inabsenceof Superintendent:
- Approvetime-offrequestsandcheck time sheets usingtimeschedulingsoftware.
- Attend meetings.
- Completerequiredofficeworkincludingapprovingandsigningpurchaseordersusing purchase order software.
- Reviewworkcompletedanddeterminescheduleforfollowing day.
- Manage Sanitary Collection System :
- Overseesewermainmaintenanceprogram.
- Keepallnecessaryequipmentinworkingorder.
Thisincludesbutisnotlimitedtothe sewer jetting equipment and sewer camera.
- Manage Water Distribution System :
- Responsible for the on-going maintenance and repair of distribution valves,water mains, service lines and hydrants.
- Supervise water service maintenance including valve exercising and hydrant flushingand review of water main tie-ins.
- Sub-contract for repair as required.
- Manage Storm Sewer System :
- Oversee stormsewersystemmaintenance.
- Repairsystemsdeficienciesasneeded.
- Supervise Street Maintenance:
- Asphalt paving and patching
- Tree trimming and removal
- Street light repairs
- Brush pick-up
- Concrete curb maintenance, sidewalk repairs, removal, and repairs
- Snow and ice control
- Responsible for operations beyond the regular workday:
- Coordinateemergencycall-out for emergency situation.
- Troubleshootat job site todeterminecauseofemergency.
- Asneededperemergency,notifyutilitycompanies,emergency personnel,healthagenciesandthe Superintendent.
- Summonadditionalstaffasneededtorepairproblem.
- Work Order processing,assignment,closeout,andmonitoringofprogressinthefield.
- Assistwiththecoordinationofthe City’sGeographic Information Systems (GIS) programs.
- Providecontinuoussafetytrainingandasafeworkingenvironment.
- Interview, make hiring recommendations and perform employee evaluations.
- Administer the Union contract for all contract employees.
- Performdutiesandtasksofanyemployeeunabletowork.
- Coordinate and supervise
Public
Works’employeesforsnowremoval operations. - Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
