Job DescriptionTITLE: Special Education Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) month contract, with salary and work year established by the Board
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Education or Special Education Administration required.
- Must hold at least one of the following Administrative
Certifications:
Administrator, Principal K-12 OR Administrator, Principal PK-12. - Must hold at least one of the following Special Education
Certifications:
Supervisor – Special Education PK-12 OR Supervisor, Special Education K-12. - Demonstrate strong administrative leadership, expert knowledge of state/federal special education laws, and exceptional communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate high-level competence in IEP compliance, PIMS data reporting, ACCESS billing management, and dispute resolution.
JOB GOAL:
To assist and support the Director of Special Education in managing, implementing, and monitoring district-wide special education programs and services, ensuring regulatory compliance, efficient case management, personnel supervision, and optimal educational outcomes for students with special needs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative at IEP meetings, ensuring all legal and procedural guidelines are met while facilitating effective collaboration among team members.
- Oversee and support case managers with caseload management, ensuring strict compliance with timelines, regulatory standards, and quality IEP development.
- Coordinate with the Director of Special Education to monitor district-wide IEP compliance, prepare necessary local, state, and federal reports, and participate in Mediation and Due Process cases.
- Manage School-Based ACCESS billing processes, collaborating with related service providers to gather necessary documentation and maintain compliant records for Medicaid reimbursement.
- Serve as a collaborative liaison between special education staff, general education teachers, and administrators to align student needs, program goals, and instructional practices.
- Plan and implement mandated annual training for Instructional Assistants per PDE guidelines and oversee Crisis Certification training and core team implementation across all district buildings.
- Provide ongoing administrative support to the Director of Special Education in evaluating programs, policy implementation, and departmental initiatives.
- Assist in the supervision, coordination, and evaluation of special education personnel.
- Attend Building Intervention Team (BID) meetings and support multi-tiered student intervention processes.
- Maintain high standards of professional ethics, confidentiality, and accuracy in all PIMS data and student records.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the Director of Special Education may assign.
