Program DescriptionThe Foster Care Program is located at the Main Campus in McKeesport and serves young people throughout Allegheny and neighboring counties. The program recruits, certifies, and maintains a secure and safe environment for children referred by a county protective agency who cannot live with their legal guardian at that time. It assists the young person in finding permanency either through reunification with the original caregiver or within an alternate family setting.
The program includes traditional and therapeutic services as well as services through the Statewide Adoption Network (SWAN).
Permanency Specialist
Responsibilities- Help children gather their history and maintain all the information possible about the child in one document.
- Engage with children to help them prepare for permanency.
- Create scrapbooks for the children to process trauma and honor the past.
- Provide extensive history and information to potential adoptive families.
- Educate families on ways to engage with their children and process the grief and loss as they get older.
- Primarily located in the Greater Pittsburgh area.
- Requires frequent travel throughout the area, including transportation of young people using all types of car seats.
- All positions are expected to attend training, meetings, and other events at the Main Campus in McKeesport as scheduled.
- Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; related experience and “lived experience” may be accepted.
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, reliable vehicle, valid car insurance, and registration.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Flexibility to work evenings for weekends.
- Frequent travel throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Area.
