Job Description Level II

Collin County Clerk is seeking exceptional candidates to fill the position of Deputy County Clerk II in the Probate section. A Deputy County Clerk II Probate is responsible for but, not limited to, processing applications for probating wills and guardian ships. Work is performed under the direction of a Probate Administrator.

Primary Functions
  • Creating and maintaining positive relationships with Probate Judge, Court Administrator, and attorneys to ensure clear and positive communication.
  • Scanning all relevant documents in Odyssey database and performing heavy data entry with a high level of accuracy.
  • Issuing abstracts for elections.
  • Preparing citations, filing new cases and issuing letters for executors and guardians as well as opening.
  • Posting the court docket.
  • Preparing files, processing reports, preparing correspondence, and collecting fees.
  • Assisting with researching files.
  • Answering general questions in person and via telephone.
  • Balancing a cash drawer at the end of the business day and accurately preparing bank deposits.
  • Providing excellent customer service on the phone and in person to customers and attorneys.
  • Filing and distributing daily mail.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, and office processes.
  • Must have level of education equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
  • Must possess at least two (2) years of work experience.
  • Must have the ability to pass a typing test with a rate of 50 WPM.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have ability to perform advanced data entry and scanning functions with strong accuracy and attention to detail, and must have strong customer service skills.
  • Must possess strong organizational and communication skills and demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
  • A broad knowledge of legal terminology and documents, and the court system is highly desired.
Testing Requirements

This position requires that you pass a typing test at the minimum rate specified above.

  • If you have taken a typing test with us within the last 6 months that meets or exceeds the requirements above, you do not need to take it again.
  • If you have never taken our typing test, have not met the requirements above, or it has been more than 6 months since your last test, you will need to take the test in order for your application to be complete.

Typing tests are administered in the Human Resources Testing room from 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
You do not need an appointment to test, but you will need to bring a government issued photo . If you have any questions regarding the testing, please feel free to call .
